While the world watched, ‘Dateline NBC’ aired an episode about the kidnapping and murder of 19 year-old Brooke Wilberger.
She was a student in the Brigham Young University who was known for her extraordinary beauty and loving personality.
Wilberger was the subject of “Dateline NBC”‘s special two hour show, her abduction gained national recognition in Corvallis Oregon in 2004.
Her murderer, Joel Courtney, 43, was the suspect in another kidnapping case in 2005, of a woman who miraculously escaped with her life, by another woman who saw her being abducted.
Courtney pled guilty to the kidnapping of the prior 22 year-old woman in New Mexico, and was hoping to not be extradited to Oregon for the murder of Wilberger. Cammy Wilberger, Brooke’s mother, was, incredibly thankful to Courtney for letting them know where the body was, and said as much to the amazement of the courtroom, when she and her family spoke to the criminal.
