Here are my Nightly Quickies for this Wednesday night.
Remember, each show gets about 140 characters. Then after I post my thoughts, I throw it to you. Post your Nightly Quickies on what you watched in the comment section.
American Idol: A deceased absent dad, Tourrets Syndrome, Autism, and teenage parents. This season’s last sob story had it all. Oh, and he could sing. So we didn’t need all the rest of that stuff, did we Idol? I’m glad auditions are over, because this season has been as exploitive as ever.
Modern Family: It wasn’t the funniest episode, but it was still great. Phil going in the wrong room was predictable, but still hilarious. Also liked the call-backs to past episodes. And yes, Gloria wins Valantine’s Day.
Mr. Sunshine (Series Premiere): Matthew Perry returns as a douchier version of “Chandler”. Look, this isn’t ‘Modern Family’ funny, but it was ok. In fact, this version was much better than the screener I saw last May before the pilot was re-shot. So it could have been worse, I saw it! Allison Janney deserves alot of credit here.
Dragons’ Den: The funniest part of this episode was during the pitch of the game “Rox”. Jim Treliving said it reminded him of a game he used to play as a kid called “corn-holing”. This prompted the fellow Dragons (and audience at home) to burst into laugher. Oh Jim, what happens in Manitoba should stay in Manitoba.
Law & Order: SVU : I can’t help but to hate the message here in this episode. A kid kidnaps a girl, so that Stabler helps to find his missing brother. Then Stabler finds the missing brother in just hours (what the hell?). But guess what, the initial kidnapping was a hoax, just to get the police to find the brother. Stupid upon stupid premise.
Justified (Season Premiere): Raylan Givens and his epic hat are back for another badass season of Justified. Mags Bennett is this season’s baddie, who got off to a terrifying start. That’s one Apple Pie you don’t want to taste.
